Swiss investor opens the fourth factory in Russia
LLC Sika Russia, a subsidiary enterprise of Swiss Sika Group, specialized in manufacturing of chemicals for construction and industry, opens a factory in Volgograd. This factory will be the fourth in Russia after ones located in St. Petersburg, Rzhev and Lobnya.
The new factory will manufacture dry building mixes and, in the long term, concrete admixtures. As a result, the share of Sika production in this market segment will rise from 40% to 60%. The Volgograd factory is expected to produce about 30 tons yearly. The total amount invested by Sika Group in its Russian enterprises this year will reach 4-5 million Swiss francs.
“In spite of doubtful prospects for the next few years, we believe that in the long term Russian construction sector has a high potential”, said general director of Sika Russia Sergey Zyuzya. “That’s why the company continues its localization strategy in Russia, therefore increasing the share of import substitution. For example, a start of production in Volgograd will increase a share of local production from 40% to 60%. New manufacturing sites will also help to reduce transportation expenses and import duties.”
The new factory will produce construction chemicals for southern regions of Russia. That will help to significantly reduce logistic expenses and to minimize the cost of materials for Russian buyers.
