Russian-German joint venture will start a production of maleic anhydride in the SEZ Alabuga

At the recent meeting, a supervisory council of the special economic zone “Alabuga” approved a project on maleic anhydride production “Kamatech”. The estimated volume of investments is 9.958 billion rubles. The new factory will be located in the territory of the special economic zone and produce 40 thousand tons of liquid and granulated maleic anhydride per year.

At the recent meeting, a supervisory council of the special economic zone “Alabuga” approved a project on maleic anhydride production “ООО Kamatech”. The estimated volume of investments is 9.958 billion rubles. The new factory will be located in the territory of the special economic zone and produce 40 thousand tons of liquid and granulated maleic anhydride per year. The production output may further increase to 60 thousand tons per year. The factory is scheduled for launch in the second quarter of 2018.

“OOO Kamatech” is a joint venture of Russian “OOO Pa-Rus” and German engineering company Chemieanlagenbau Chemnitz GmbH (CAC). According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, “OOO Kamatech” was registered in Yelabuga in May, 2015. The head of the company is Mikhail Selivanov, the founder of “OOO Pa-Rus”, Perm Region. CAC constructs industrial plants and implements process technologies in the field of oil and gas refining, petroleum and inorganic chemistry as well as fine and special chemistry.

Maleic anhydride is used mainly in the manufacture of polyester resins. It is used also for the synthesis of fumaric and malic acids, maleic acid hydrazide, defoliants, fungicides, insecticides, as well as alkyd resin modifier and additive to lubricating oils. Currently, Russia does not produce maleic anhydride. The main importers are based in China, Korea and Japan.
