On October 15, Perm hosted an extensive contact exchange. The representatives of about 20 British companies visited the city: Renishaw Plc, Arup, Deloitte & Touche, The Manufacturing Technologies Association, Pilz Automation Technology Safe, Tata Steel, Whizz Education, Nacelle Systems Consultancy Ltd., Cross Manufacturing Company, Delcam, Welding Alloys, AECOM LLC and others

Perm Region hosted British business mission

On October 15, Perm hosted an extensive contact exchange. The representatives of about 20 British companies visited the city: Renishaw Plc, Arup, Deloitte & Touche, The Manufacturing Technologies Association, Pilz Automation Technology Safe, Tata Steel, Whizz Education, Nacelle Systems Consultancy Ltd., Cross Manufacturing Company, Delcam, Welding Alloys, AECOM LLC and others.

“This is the largest business delegation ever visited Perm. We have gathered the experts in the areas of engineering, finance services, construction and education. Many of them represent world’s leading companies”, said Martin Harris, the Deputy Head of the Mission at the British Embassy in Moscow, at the round-table meeting with the government of the Perm Region.

The representatives told briefly about the activities of their companies, many of which cooperate with Perm enterprises. For example, Nacelle Systems Consultancy Ltd. assists “OAO Aviadvigatel” in international certification of PD-14 engine. Cross Manufacturing Company supplies the factory with the sealing for aggressive environment, crucial for aircraft engines.

Welding Alloys implements the wear protection technologies for metallurgic and mining equipment (including abrasive equipment). The company representative expressed an idea to open a local building-up center in Perm Region. Lonmadi, the authorized distributor of JCB Group, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of construction equipment, already has production facilities in Perm Region and implements the import-substituting project.

Construction company AECOM LLC showed an interest in transport objects being built in Perm Region, such as airport, railway station, motor roads, and in infrastructure objects such as multifunctional centers and stadiums. Almaz Zakiev, the Transport Minister of the Perm Region, said that the region is interested in new technologies in transport construction, and everyone interested can participate in tenders for engineering and construction.

The Vice-Chair of the Perm Region Government, the Minister for Industry and Trade Alexey Chibisov told about large investment projects important not only for the economy of the region, but also for the global economy: mines “Uralkaliy” and “UralHIM” in Verchnekamsky potassium-magnesium salt deposit; production of 1 million tons of carboid per year by Metafrax Company; the fourth 800-MW energy unit of Perm regional power station; new engine PD-14; projects on added-value wood processing.

The Perm Region and the United Kingdom have been business partners for 20 years. In the first quarter of 2015, the trade volume between the region and the United Kingdom reached $16.5 million.
