Genetics center will be established on Sakhalin to improve cattle breeds. Israeli company "Demeter AWE Holding Ltd." to be responsible for the project. Its top management together with Board Chair Shalom Simhon came to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to study the situation in the region.

Demeter-AWE is a holding company that provides strategic and detailed planning services, as well as manages agricultural projects and programs in a range of countries. Shalom Simhon is a world recognized expert in these areas: in Israel he used to serve as Minister of Industry, Trade and Labor, for five years he served as Minister of Agriculture. It is worth mentioning that agricultural industry of Israel is believed to be the leading in the world.

On Sakhalin "Demeter AWE Holding Ltd." representatives visited agricultural production' cooperative "Sokolovsky", occupying the 1st place in milk gross output in the region. Milk production per cow made up 6507 kg in 2014. Although this result is twice as low comparing to Israelis cows.

Shalom Simhon is sure that within 3-4 years milk production can sufficiently increase and not only due to herd expansion. The most important factor will be the appearance of cows with new genetic code completely adapted to the natural environment of the island. Production per cow will increase up to 10 000 kg a year. Dairy husbandry Genetics center planned to be constructed on Sakhalin will provide with pedigree cattle not only agricultural facilities of the region but facilities of all Russian Far East.
