The Ulyanovsk Region picks up an international reward for its contribution into investment climate improvement efforts
This was reported by the Region's Governor, Sergey Morozov, on the 11th of January at the first post holiday meeting held with members of the Regional Government. According to the Region's Governor, the reward was granted at the initiative of the World Organization for Development, an international non-governmental organization featuring a special advisory status with the UN Economic and Social Council. The regions were shortlisted based on Russia's National Investment Climate Status Rating compiled by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives to Promote New Projects.
The Ulyanovsk Region earned a silver award in the nomination "For Contribution in Improving Investment Climate in Russia". Furthermore, gold awards were granted to Bridgestone in the "Investor of the Year" nomination and to Ulyanovsk Machine Tool Factory (DMG Mori Seiki) in the "Technology Investor of the Year" nomination.
Total investments attracted to the Ulyanovsk Region for the last 11 years increased 6.5 times. Investments for 11 months of 2015 totaled RUB 69.6 billion (+ 16.4% year on year).
