The Penza Region's 2016 plans provide for boosting the production of 'protected ground' vegetables from 10.3 to 11 thousand, as reported by the Press Office of the Regional Ministry of Agriculture.

At year-end 2015, the Penza Region's commodity segment produced more than 10.3 thousand tonnes of 'protected ground' vegetables, cucumbers and tomatoes. Agrarians' 2016 plans provide for an increase in the production of 'protected ground' vegetables up to 11 thousand tonnes.

Vegetables are grown up on protected ground in the Region by OJSC Penza Greenhouse Complex, Penza Region, and LLC Biotechnologies, Kuznetsk Region. Lettuce and other herbaceous crops are specifically grown up by Dmitry Gribakov's peasant farm enterprise.

The area of winter greenhouses in the Region totals 28.63 hectares. Furthermore, glasshouse horticulture is developed at farm enterprises based on spring greenhouses. Their area totaled 23.75 hectares in 2015.

Today, the Region's Government is working on the creation of a short list of potential investors considering the implementation of contemporary greenhouse projects to grow up vegetables and herbaceous crops.
