Bridgestone to launch a tire plant in the Ulyanovsk Region

The Corporation for the Development of the Ulyanovsk Region has reported that Bridgestone, a Japanese company, is getting prepared to open its own tire production facility in the Region in the second half of 2016.

The Corporation for the Development of the Ulyanovsk Region has reported that Bridgestone, a Japanese company, is getting prepared to open its own tire production facility in the Region in the second half of 2016. For the time being, the buildings of the facility are completed and equipment installation and startup operations are ongoing.


"We already have a lot of customers who are looking forward to getting products manufactured in Russia, specifically in Ulyanovsk. We also have potential customers who include car manufacturers interested in our products", Hiromi Tanigawa, the CEO of Bridgestone Tire Manufacturing C.I.S., noted.


The plant's output is going to be supplied to the Russian market in the first instance to be followed by exports to CIS markets.


We remind that an investment agreement was executed between Bridgestone Corporation and Government of the Ulyanovsk Region in 2013. Bridgestone will invest some RUB 12.5 billion in the project jointly with Mitsubishi Corporation.
