JTI (Japan Tobacco International), a Japanese tobacco company, has commissioned a cogeneration heating and power plant costing RUB 300 million as part of its Lipetsk based JTI Elets, according to the company.
The company's representatives explained that the construction continued for almost two years. Eventually, the total power capacity of the plant is 3.638 MW and it is capable of producing 3.089 MMkcal/hr of heat energy. The facility's performance efficiency is 88% thanks to utilizing heat generated to satisfy production needs. According to Alexander Bogatikov, JTI Elets chief power engineer, the plant's payback period may reach six years.
The launching of the facility's own power plant has completed the upgrading of JTI Elets's energy complex. The upgrading efforts have resulted in the creation of modern cable tracks, a new transformer substation and cross connect equipment to monitor the operation of the new heat and power plant. As General Director of JTI Elets Timur Mutayev added, the company has invested $75 million for the last eight years.
LLC JTI Elets is engaged in the production of tobacco products in the Lipetsk Region. Its founders include JTI International Holding B.V. According to SPARK Interfax, the company's revenues in 2014 totaled almost RUB 900 million while its net profits amounted to RUB 107.6 million.
