Fresenius, a German company, has opened its dialysis center in Lipetsk. The amount invested totals RUB 250 million, according to the City Administration.

The center is equipped with 40 "Artificial Kidney" units and designed to treat 240 patients using the hemodialysis method. In perspective, the center's specialists will be able to offer medical services based on other dialysis therapy methods as well. The land plot accommodating the project was created on a site from which slum dwellings were removed under a citizens relocation programme.

Today, a total of six dialysis centers operate in the Lipetsk region, including Elets, Chapluiginsky District and the Regional Center itself. All of these operate under a regional government-guaranteed medical aid programme. According to the City Administration, the commissioning of Fresenius's Center has reduced the workload of other existing centers.

Fresenius Medical Care has been opening outpatient dialysis centers in Russia since 2005 with the Lipetsk-based Center becoming its 37^th facility. The company's turnover in 2014 totaled RUB 15.8 billion. CJSC Fresenius JV was founded in Russia in 1990. It has branches in Saint-Petersburg, Kazan and Novosibirsk as well as representative offices in Nizhny Novgorod, Samara and Voronezh.
