Amur Minerals, a US and Canadian mining company, intends to develop the Amur Region's infrastructure and create new job opportunities in the area.

Amur Minerals, a US and Canadian mining company, intends to develop the Amur Region's infrastructure and create new job opportunities in the area. The company's intentions were voiced on Tuesday by Chairman of the company's Board of Directors Robert Schafer at the annual Eurasian Mining Conference arranged by Canada Eurasia Russia Business Association (CERBA). According to him, Amur Minerals intends to invest into a construction of a 320 km road from Kun-Manie to the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) and construct power stations and a new industrial hub between Ulak and Gorny settlements.


"This will allow creating more than 1 thousand jobs for the local community", he said. Mr. Schafer did not voice the amount or date of the investments. He also added that despite the global economic turmoil and political relations between Russia and Western countries, the company is ready to continue its operations in Russia. "Russia is open for business and the Russian Government fulfills its promises", the Chairman of the company's Board of Directors said. Amur Minerals mining company specializes in the extraction of nonferrous metals in the Russian Far East. The Kun-Manie deposit in the Amur Region is the company's key asset featuring 830,000 tonnes of Nickel equivalent of estimated reserves.
