South Korean tourist business takes interest in the Astrakhan Region

Prospects for cooperation between the Astrakhan business community and its colleagues from South Korea have been discussed at a meeting held between tourist companies, Regional Deputy Minister for Culture and Tourism Tatyana Porubleova and Gennady Kononenko, a representative of the Russian Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RASPP). The South Korean party expressed its interest in such cooperation.

What was going to attract tourists from South Korea to the Astrakhan Region was also a discussion topic.

The natives of Astrakhan expressed their readiness to familiarize their South Korean colleagues with all tourist acceptance capabilities in the Astrakhan Region, including collective accommodations, sightseeing programmes and tour itineraries that may potentially spark interest. The plans scheduled for this year include a round table to be held in Moscow with representatives of six major tour operators where the Astrakhan Region's tourist potential will be presented.

We would note that South Korea is globally recognized as a promising audience for inbound tourism with 40% of the country's population having visited foreign countries in 2015. On a par with other Southeast Asian countries, it is one of top priority areas to promote tourist opportunities in Russia.
