International company to bottle whiskey in Russia for the first time ever

Bacardi is about to start bottling whiskey at a Russian plant to reduce its dependency from fluctuating Ruble exchange rates.

Bacardi, a company ranking among top 3 global producers of strong spirits, has entered into a contract with Sinergia, one of Russian major vodka producers, to bottle its inexpensive Scotch whiskey William Lawson`s.

The bottling of the whiskey will start in late April at Traditsii Kachestva, Sinergia's Moscow Region plant. Sinergia will act as bottler — deliveries of 60% distillate will be made from Scotland to be blended to the required strength in Russia (40% of spirit) and bottled in 0.5, 0.7 and 1 liter bottles. The Russian producer will not be involved in the distribution of William Lawson`s as Sinergia has a valid sale contract in Russia with William Grant & Sons (Grant`s, Glenfiddich, Tullamore Dew brands), a Bacardi's competitor, obliging it to refrain from distributing any other whiskey brands.

Sinergia will bear the costs to be incurred to technically re-equip its production facilities to the required extent with Bacardi investing funds into the project's working capital, allocating funds to purchase bottles, components, etc.
