A Chinese investor will construct a facility to grow shiitake mushrooms inside the Davidov Industrial Park, Shemisheysky District, Penza Region. This was reported by RIA Novosti quoting Governor Ivan Belozertsev of the Region.

"The Company featuring Chinese investments has finally embarked on the project to create amushroom growing facility", the Region's Governor is quoted as saying.

The facility will comprise 35 rooms, 30 of which will function as mushroom growing chambers. The total area of the project will exceed 20,000 square meters and its daily output will be up to 7,000 tonnes mushrooms.

Regional authorities have executed a declaration of intent with Shandong Qihe Bio Teñhnology Co Ltd, the project's investor (China), as early as in November 2014. However, no construction operations have been performed until recently. RUB 180 million will be invested in the facility. The first shop is expected to be commissioned in the forth quarter of 2016, according to the news agency.

Shiitake is a wild mushroom originating from China and Japan which is intensively cultivated all over the world. In the wild, shiitake grows on the dead woody tissue of broadleaved species.
