Austrian companies take interest in Tatarstan's SEZs

An Austrian-Tatarstan business forum took place on Thursday in Vienna, as reported by the Tatarstan President's Press Office.


Christoph Leitl, the President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, told during the Forum that Austrian businessmen are interested in investing money into special economic zones located in the Republic of Tatarstan. "We know that Tatarstan is Russia's economically successful region and we are ready to execute a special cooperation agreement", Mr. Leitl was quoted as saying by the Press Office.


President Rustam Minnikhanov of Tatarstan, in his turn, said that the Republic is interested in attracting Austrian businesses in the Republic and provide them will assistance and support. According to him, there are enterprises and projects that are run in the Republic by such Austrian companies as Swarño, Wienerberger and Fisher; he also cited as example cooperation between KAMAZ and Austrian businesses.


Mr. Minnikhanov also noted that Tatarstan and Austria have a great potential in such sectors as oil refining and petrochemistry, energy saving, IT, aircraft engineering, pharmaceuticals and other.
