Samara visited by Czech delegation

Samara's authorities may purchase Czech tramway cars pending the FIFA World Cup. This topic was raised at a meeting held between representatives of local ministries and a Czech delegation headed by Vladimir Remek, the Ambassador Plenipotentiary to the Czech Republic in the Russian Federation. The discussion of cooperation prospects was followed by a visit made to the city's enterprises.

Samara's authorities may purchase Czech tramway cars pending the FIFA World Cup. This topic was raised at a meeting held between representatives of local ministries and a Czech delegation headed by Vladimir Remek, the Ambassador Plenipotentiary to the Czech Republic in the Russian Federation. The discussion of cooperation prospects was followed by a visit made to the city's enterprises.

Alexander Kobenko, the Samara Region's Minister of Economic Development, Investments and Trade told: "We are also certainly developing export operations to supply our equipment which is manufactured in our Region with Tyazhmask, needless to say, playing here a special role. Several years ago it acquired a Czech company manufacturing turbines and we think that there are pretty large cooperation options for the both parties".

The business meeting continued at the sites of local enterprises. This was not the first time for Czech guests to visit the Samara TTU (Tramway and Trolleybus Administration). It should be noted that 80% of the Samara tramway fleet is comprised of models manufactured in the Czech Republic.

Frantisek Masopust, the Executive Director and a member of the Management Board of the CIS Chamber of Commerce and Industry, told: "We don't want to be vendors only as we also want to be partners, to earn together and invite new things and new systems. We are interested in not only enabling or upgrading work on the shop floor, but also in inventing new upgrading aspects. That is why we have come here. This is needed to give a demo to our other colleagues who are working in this direction and unambiguously demonstrate the Czech party's interest".

Furthermore, the regional government does not rule out the possibility that Samara's tramway fleet will have got new Czech tramway cars by the start of the FIFA World Cup.
