Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Boris Dubrovsky together with Ambassador Plenipotentiary to the Swiss Confederation in the Russian Federation Pier Helg have visited a plant located near Magnitogorsk and operated by Omya, a major Swiss concern. The plant has celebrated its tenth anniversary recently. The event comprised the launching of a new string, thanks to which the plant's production capacity would increase by 50%.

Swiss concern Omya is a global leader producing industrial minerals, mainly, fillers and coloring agents based on calcium carbonate and dolomite. The Chelyabinsk based plant is Omya Group's first ground marble facility. The availability of mineral resources, highly skilled specialists, energy resources, advantageous logistics and favorable investment climate played a crucial part 10 years ago when the group searched for a suitable industrial site. This resulted in the construction of a fully automated ground marble plant in the Agapovka District. The total amount of investments made to develop the business in the Region exceeded EUR 60 million. The multiplicative effect generated by the implementation of OMIA Ural projects totaled more than EUR 100 million.
