A public tender has resulted in the selection of a contractor for supplying and installing active equipment to be used to construct a fiber-optic line in the city of Norilsk.
The contract was awarded to ADV Consulting that offered a technical solution based on equipment manufactured by Alcatel-Lucent (being currently a subdivision of Nokia), according to the Press Office of Norilsk Nickel, a mining and metallurgical company.
The company will supply communication equipment to be installed at net nodes on the Norilsk-Novy Urengoy road, install and commission it.
We remind that the fiber-optic line will be laid from Novy Urengoy to Norilsk via the Urengoy State District Power Plant, the Vankor Field, Igarka and Snezhnogorsk. In several places, the line will be laid using Rosneft's power transmission line towers. This will allow optimizing costs and reducing the project implementation period. A portion of the fiber-optic line will be laid under the Yenisei River's bed at the section connecting the Vankor Field and Igarka.
Today, Internet connection is available in Norilsk thanks to satellite channels which is a more expensive solution offering low speed Internet.
