Valmet to supply biomass-fired boiler unit for Segezha Pulp and Paper Plant

Valmet is going to supply a biomass-fired boiler unit for the Segezha Pulp and Paper Plant (Segezha Group) located in the Republic of Karelia, Russia, to make steam required for the Plant's flow processes. The investment will enable the Plant to use waste wood and sewage sludge as fuel thus reducing fuel oil consumption, emissions and environmental impact. Valmet will supply its equipment for the boiler unit in 2017. The price of the order has not been disclosed.

"Valmet branded multifuel boiler has been selected out of several bids received from potential suppliers on a competitive basis. We considered both the equipment's operational reliability and quality-price ratio. Process factors and successful experience of testing the boiler at the sector's enterprises were decisive criteria. We expect that the new boiler will help to effectively burn high and variable moisture timber-processing wastes as well as excess sludge from treatment facilities", Sergey Pondar, the Vice President of Segezha Group for Production, noted.
