The Vladimir Region's first plant capable of both extracting and producing high-quality quartz sand is going to appear in the Region as early as in 2017. On Thursday, the 21^st of July, a foundation stone laying ceremony took place in connection with the construction of the Velikodvorsky Processing Plant located in a village of the Gus Khrustalny Region having the same name.

The total amount to be invested into the project exceeds RUB 2 billion. This is already the forth plant to be operated by Quartzwerke Group in Russia. The Vladimir-based facility is going to be the largest among them.

The facility would considerably reduce costs incurred to purchase raw materials as quartz sand having specific granulometric and physical-chemical parameters accounts for 70% of all raw materials used by the Vladimir Region's glass production segment.

The launching of the facility will enable glass blowers based in Gus Khrustalny and other Russian enterprises to stop using imported raw materials. Raw materials from the Vladimir Region will become competitive as their price would be 15 to 20% lower with the expected production capacities of the facility being 500,000 tonnes of quartz sand per annum.
