FAR trucks to be assembled in Primorye next year

An agreement is going to be executed between FAW, a Chinese corporation, and Sumotori, a Russian entity, at the second Eastern Economic Forum that will take place on 2-3 September in Vladivostok.

An agreement is going to be executed between FAW, a Chinese corporation, and Sumotori, a Russian entity, at the second Eastern Economic Forum that will take place on 2-3 September in Vladivostok. According to the CEO of Sumotori Group Vitaly Verkeyenko, the agreement to be executed between the companies will trigger the assembling of FAW branded trucks in Primorye. The joint venture will proceed to truck assembling as early as the next year. "We already have a production base that will be completely upgraded by us jointly with our Chinese partners. The third stage covers a deeper production localization and the assembling of major components for vehicles and a new facility is expected to be created," Mr. Verkeyenko is quoted as saying by TASS Russian News Agency. The amount to be invested to upgrade the production and the date on which the construction of the new facility will start were not voiced. Trucks will initially be sold in the Russian Far East with the sales geography extending with time.
