Construction of Russia's first plant owned by Japanese Bridgestone completed in Ulyanovsk Region

Construction of Russia's first plant owned by Japanese Bridgestone completed in Ulyanovsk Region

On the 13^th of September, temporary acting Governor Sergei Morozov took part in the official ceremony.

The facility hosted by Zavolzhiye Industrial Park has become the first plant owned by the Japanese concern in Russia and CIS. It will manufacture radial tires for motor cars using innovative technology meeting international quality standards.

The total amount invested into the project is RUB 12.5 billion. The facility currently employs 470 persons and this number is going to increase to 800 after the plant reaches full production capacity.

"Our Ulyanovsk based enterprise will work for the Russian tier market supplying its products to consumers in Russia and CIS countries. But in future, when its capacity is expanded, we leave room for the potential exporting of a portion of the products to other countries as well. We are glad that it is the Ulyanovsk Region that was selected from all available options. We succeeded in promptly resolving all organizational matters and proceeding to the construction of the facility. Regional authorities always supported us in addressing all our challenges in connection with the project," Hiromi Tanigava, the CEO of Bridgestone Tier Manufacturing CIS, said.

The investors reckons on manufacturing up to 2 million tiers annually which number is going to be subsequently increased to 4 million tiers per annum as the automotive market recovers.
