The agreements were signed on 21 November during a meeting between the head of the region Sergey Morozov and the Chairman of the Board of AO "NTM Group" Yu Zhihai.
“We are pleased that one more Chinese company, a manufacturer of medical equipment that makes tomographic scanners, has decided to become a part of the joint Russian-Chinese cluster created in the territory of the Ulyanovsk region and to place the production here. International digital technologies will be implemented in our region. This means that our citizens will receive new jobs and timely diagnostics with the use of modern equipment in medical institutions of the region, as well as have access to the cutting-edge competences in medicine”, – the Governor Sergey Morozov said.
Agreements on creation of the Russian-Chinese cluster of medical equipment manufacturers were reached in summer. It is planned to place the cluster in the territory of the Ulyanovsk Special Economic Zone. In July, the region signed an investment agreement with LLC "Baoji Holding Company", as well as memorandums with the three leading medical equipment manufacturers in the People's Republic of China. In total, 17 investors are going to be a part of the cluster, while the new manufacturer of tomographic scanners will become the eighteenth participant.
The total investment might amount up to $ 1.5 billion; approximately 3.800 new jobs will be created. The investor has received permission of the government of the People's Republic of China to invest 100 million dollars into the project's first stage.
“The first participants of the medical cluster are waiting for commissioning of the industrial park in the Ulyanovsk SEZ. After it, they will launch production at the leased sites. At the same time, the initiator of the project, NTM Group, is working on design of their own industrial park. It will be a facility in the territory of the special zone, which will be later occupied by manufacturers”, – said Sergey Vasin, the CEO of the Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation.
