St. Petersburg’s shipbuilders exported tankers to US$241m to six countries in 2017 — a whopping 569% rise on 2016 when they sold one worth US$36m to Portugal.
The six new importers accounting for 80% (US$192m) of St. Pete’s exports in 2017 were the Netherlands (30%), Denmark (27%), Bulgaria (23%), Azerbaijan (10%), Norway (8%) and Panama (2%), the latter three sharing among them US$49m’s worth of the imports.
