New Zealand plans cooperation with Voronezh Region

The delegation of the New Zealand Embassy in Russia, headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of New Zealand to Russia Ian Hill visited the Voronezh Region.

The New Zealanders visited the region to learn about the trade and economic potential, as well as prospects for cooperation in the agricultural sector.

Ian Hill met with Acting Head of the Regional Economic Development Department Anatoly Bukreyev. The parties considered promising areas of partnership with Voronezh agricultural companies. Then the delegation from New Zealand met with Acting Head of the Department of Agrarian Policy of the Voronezh Region Alexander Kvasov and visited the region’s leading agricultural enterprises.

In 2017, the mutual trade volume between the Voronezh Region and New Zealand amounted to 264.2 thousand US dollars. The exports share was 0.6% (1.5 thousand dollars), imports – 99.4% (262.7 thousand dollars).

Plastics and products from them were exported to New Zealand. A large share of imports from New Zealand to the Voronezh Region (98.2%) is dairy products, eggs, honey, foods of animal origin. A smaller share (1.8%) is carpets and textile floor coverings.

In the first quarter of 2018, the foreign trade turnover of the Voronezh Region with New Zealand amounted to 332.6 thousand US dollars.
