Over 100 agreements worth $3.3 bln signed at Yalta forum

More than 100 agreements totally worth 215 bln rubles ($3.3 bln) have been signed at the Yalta International Economic Forum (YIEF).

"A total of 102 agreements worth 215 bln rubles," Crimean head Sergei Aksenov said.

According to Aksenov, agreements in various fields have been made. Particularly, it is planned to implement projects on agriculture production and processing. "Four projects are already being implemented," he said, adding that those are projects in industry, IT technologies and infrastructure sectors.

Co-Chairman of the Delovaya Rossiya (Business Russia) association and Co-Chairman of the Yalta International Economic Forum (YIEF) Organizing Committee Andrei Nazarov said earlier that the cost of the contracts concluded at the fifth forum was expected to reach 280 bln rubles ($4.3 bln).

More than 1,700 jobs will be created in Crimea thanks to the agreements signed during the 5th Yalta International Economic Forum, Crimea’s head, Sergei Aksyonov, said. "The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea has signed an eight billion ruble (125.28 million US dollars) worth of concrete agreements. In all, more than 1,700 jobs will be created," he said.

Trade between Russian and Syria via Crimean ports is to reach 150,000 tonnes of cargoes in both directions by the end of the current year, Crimea’s head, Sergei Aksyonov, told the fifth Yalta International Economic Forum.

"The first ship with 2.5 tonnes of barley has been dispatched to Syria. Today, we discussed issues of loading it on its way back. We have set a task of boosting cargo turnover via Crimean ports by the end of the year to some 150,000 tonnes of cargoes in both directions. We have coordinated positions on citrus fruits, olive oil, there is demand for building materials, for instance, marble and granite. Our contractor building companies have taken some samples," he said.

Earlier, Aksyonov and Syrian Minister of Economy and Trade Mohammad Samir Kahlil signed a memorandum on trade and economic cooperation between the two countries’ regions. Under the memorandum, the sides plan to set up a joint trading house and a joint shipping company to ensure regular shipments between ports of Syria’s Latakia and Russia’s Crimea.

The Fifth Yalta International Economic Forum dubbed "World. Russia. Crimea. New World Reality" is taking place in the Crimean city of Yalta on April 17-20. TASS is the forum’s general information partner and official photohost agency.
